Thank you to everyone who helped out with our Workday projects over the past month!

We have cleared the new path for the Hillside Tunnel Trail, and we are ready to  open the new trail and block off the old trail. We are setting up a work day for November.  Thanks to Bryan and all of the volunteers for helping with this!

We’ve made a dent in the Bamboo Removal project at Ridge and Laurel Hill.  Our mission is to cut down and remove as much bamboo as possible from the woods in that corner of the commons behind the row houses. This is invasive persistent bamboo that is damaging the forest and causing property damage. This is a multi-year project. Thank you to Zach and all of the volunteers for cutting and moving loads of bamboo!

We spread out the Wood Chip Mulch at the common area near 2 Court Laurel Hill.  Thanks to everyone who helped, this was quick work! Our goal is to use up some of GHI’s wood chips and enhance one of the common spaces. Projects like this save GHI members money, and reduce our carbon footprint.

This was a pilot program that has ended. If anyone would like to “adopt” this space, that would be awesome. This is a great location for some understory plants - so consider becoming a Caretaker!

Opportunities for Member Involvement:

Members are welcome to participate in the Woodlands Committee meetings, which are now being held online the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. Meetings are open to all GHI members and the general public. Membership is open to any GHI members. Activities, projects, and meetings are generally free and open to all interested individuals.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Hope to see you on the trails, at a distance, or at a meeting online!
