FALL PLANT SWAP and SCAVENGER HUNT

Saturday, October 17th
11:00 am
GHI Office, 1 Hamilton Place (outside)
It’s time to take stock of your garden: harvest some seeds, divide your perennials and evaluate your blank spaces.
Then bring along your excess plants, divisions, seedlings, seeds, and bulbs to the
Plant Swap and prepare to pick up some new plants.

Also bring your surplus tools that are in good working condition, gardening books, magazines, garden ornaments, etc.

Please do not bring houseplants or invasive species such as English Ivy, pachysandra, periwinkle, Rose of Sharon  — we have more than enough.

Large objects that are not traded get to go back home with their respective donors.

We’ll set up at 11:00 AM and start the Swap with a “tour” of the available plants at 11:15.

Please bring a card with a description of your plant.

After that, everyone will get a turn to pick out a plant or gardening miscellany until everything is gone.  We will go around the tables in one direction, maintaining 6’ distance.

If you are a new gardener and don’t have anything for the Plant Swap, you can always garner a few tips as well as pick up some plants.

In addition, we are introducing our first Scavenger Hunt!  This is a fun and engaging outdoor family activity that you can take home and do on your own.  You can take home the laminated reusable sheets to look for nature items on your walks around Greenbelt throughout the seasons. One is suitable for younger kids, and one for more advanced readers.

Come join the fun at the GHI Headquarters at 1 Hamilton Place.  All are welcome.
